KATE GOW is a kinaestheticist— obsessed with the aesthetics of kinetics. She is a conservatory-trained dancer, technologist, poet, and many other disparate things-- and it all manifests in her work as a designer, dancer, and digital archivist.
DESIGN - Kate is a Front-End Web Developer and design consultant. She has created fully-accessible, beautiful websites that are compliant with WAI-ARIA specifications from wireframes to mobile responsiveness, developed with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. A lover of process, she is able to recommend UX/UI design best practices as well as consult on cross-functional design flows within complex organizations, with a focus on learning management systems.
DANCE - Kate is a freelance performer and teacher, currently performing with Cumulus Dance in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has taught ballet for 4 years at Richmond Dancer Center, and grounds her pedagogy in joyful movement and anatomically-correct instruction.
DIGITAL ARCHIVES - Kate is the first digital archivist for The Conference For Research on Choreographic Interfaces (CRCI) at Brown University. Blending her interest in memory-keeping and storytelling with CRCI's work to make productive interventions in development of emerging art and technologies, Kate is growing the CRCI community by creating a space to dive in and explore the braid of choreography, computation, and surveillance that is CRCI.
